What is COAL SPINE?
COAL SPINE is a registered brand with the HQ in France founded by Mara Chevalier. It's a multidisciplinary studio that formulates & produces certified botanical cosmetics under its roof since 2016. Its activity also extends to photography, design and production of objects and concepts.
What does COAL SPINE mean
The word play was intended to marry nature and human form. COAL as a raw material coming from depths of earth that transforms in to a diamond under pressure and SPINE as a symbol of humaness,that constitutes a principal strength as a quality or trait. Merged together they result in determination and will to take risks.
Tell me more about the ingredients CS uses.
All ingredients are sourced responsibly and are of the highest quality. Botanicals are sourced from certified organic farming in Europe and abroad when necessary , as are our oils and clays. Chemical compounds used in our soap production are provided by the properly certified chemical laboratory that handles ingredients of this profile.
Do you use essential oils?
Yes.Our Botanical Oils, Balms,Moon Soaps and Moon Bars contain Essential Oils, and as a European brand, we have to follow EU standards and regulations regarding the topical concentration. That means super-low content and diluted, in comparison to the rest of the globe it is a very low concentration allowed and for a good reason. The regulations have been placed with the consumer in mind (safety and health) but also Essential Oils production has an impact on the environment - it takes an incredible amount of plants to make a tiny bottle of essential oils.
By whom & where is the CS Collection produced?
Entire CS collection is produced by Mara Chevalier in the CS lab/production studio in France. Coal Spine is not outsorcing the producers for their products.
Who designed and formulated the Moon Soaps?
Moon Soap form was decided upon and designed by Mara Chevalier the same goes for formulation. The Moon Soaps are one of the visuals signatures of the brand that came about trough significance of the Planet Moon,its phases and coherence with our logo and ethos rooted in Demeter,Carl Jung & Alchemy of life and nature.

Can i find you in shops near me?

Can we collaborate?
It is possible. Let's talk and see where we stand on all matters of life and working ethic and with it we'll establish if this is something for us. If we "click" we will go trough nitty gritty steps of deciding each others roles of the collaboration and signing agreements before any production starts so we can have clear path ahead of us.
Under the collaboration process we only agree on Coal Spine x Another Brand type of approach & transparency. It is a paramount to understand that Coal Spine is not open to sell the liscence and wave the right of ownership of the formulation or to present its self as the formulator, producer & collaborator. We retain our intellectual property rights with addition to anything we have discussed prior to the start of the collaboration.
It is important to understand that we remain responsible for the administration of the intellectual property rights concerned (and, if necessary, for possible prosecution in the event of infringements).
Are you open for commission as a White Label producer?
No. COAL SPINE is not a White Label brand. We always remain present as the producer & formulator in a public eye. Our work is authentic and read as a signature .To separate the two would be impossible. COAL SPINE is NOT a mass-production brand of generic products.
Are you making custom products?
If we are a fit and time allows us: yes. It involves discussion about what you invision and what we can do about it, agreeing on the respective roles in the agreement and signing it. It is a paramount to understand that Coal Spine is never using the original custom made form for the soaps for the collaborative commissioning agremements, they remain the visual authentic signature for the brand. Our brand also is not open to sell the license and wave the right of ownership of the formulation or to present its self as the formulator and producer.We retain our intellectual property rights with addition to anything we have discussed prior to the start of the collaboration. Keep in mind that we are a small production operation which puts limitation to quantites that can come out of our studio. By keeping the quantites in reasonable numbers we assure the quality. We are by no means a mass production brand.

Tell me more about the copyrights?
Our creative , artistic and formulation work is under copyright protection which begins the moment it was created.
That includes our Logo , Name , Soap design, Label design and final Formulation result.
All rights reserved since 2016 for the brand and logo & March 2020 for the soaps & labels & formulations.

Our creations are protected, the quality of the product is guaranteed and its origin is clear.
